(Miami, Fla.)- City of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones of District 5 and the 2006 Haitian Heritage committee members will host a reception tonight to celebrate Haitian Heritage Month.  The reception takes place tonight, Friday, May 05, 2006 at the Historic Lyric Theater, 819 NW 2nd Avenue from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Past, Building the Future”.

Highlights of the program include a showcase “A Reflection of UN Nationality” art exhibit by Haitian artist Hector Maldonado, poetry performance by MECCA aka Grimo and performance of the Haitian National Anthem by Farah Juste.
