Florida Haitian Community Celebrates Two Centuries of Independence
TALLAHASSEE - Republican Party of Florida Chairman Carole Jean Jordan issued the following statement regarding the celebration of Haitian Heritage Month:
"Florida is the proud home to a vibrant Haitian community more than 300,000 strong. Haiti's revolution sparked the freedom movement throughout the Western Hemisphere and established the first Black nation in the world. Haiti's spirit of individual liberty and freedom embodies the ideals which make America great, and the Republican Party of Florida joins the Haitian community as they celebrate Haiti's two centuries of independence."
